Garcia Regains Lead In Tightly-Contested Congressional Race

Congressman Mike Garcia, R-Santa Clarita, has taken back the lead in the tightly-contested race for the seat in California’s 25th Congressional District (CA-25) after losing it to Assemblywoman Christy Smith, D-Santa Clarita, the day before.

As of 4:01 p.m. Tuesday, Garcia regained the lead from Smith in the CA-25 race, overcoming a gap of nearly 1,300 votes from the day before to establish a 159-vote lead.

These numbers include 2,932 votes from Los Angeles County, as well as 7,042 new votes from Ventura County.

Tuesday’s update comes after Smith regained the lead the day before, overcoming a 432-vote gap to take the lead by just under 1,300 votes.

When the first vote counts were reported at around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, Smith held a larger lead over Garcia, as the first round of reporting came from Democratic-leaning vote-by-mail ballots.

However, as the voting center ballots have slowly continued to be reported, Garcia has gradually closed that gap.

Then, at around 7 p.m. Thursday, state officials reported that Garcia took the lead over Smith, leading by 265 votes at the time.

He expanded that lead during Friday’s update to 432. However, Smith earned 1,719 more votes than Garcia in Monday’s update, which placed her back in the lead by 1,287 votes.

The results as of Tuesday afternoon can be viewed below:

MIKE GARCIA – Incumbent 165,178 50.02%
CHRISTY SMITH (N) 165,019 49.98%

Across Los Angeles County, there were nearly 200,000 ballots that still needed to be counted as of Monday afternoon, with the exact number of ballots for CA-25 not released.

Neither campaign has officially declared victory or conceded as of Tuesday afternoon.

  1. So, across Los Angeles County, there are nearly 200,000 ballots that still needed to be counted as of Monday afternoon, with the exact number of ballots for CA-25 “not” released.

So basically, they were able to count 10,000 votes or so today, wow, sounds like a long day.

Is this anyway to run an election,I think not
how can NORMAL run states count 100,000’s of votes in a day?
I would like to think that are neighbors on which ever side you fall politically would think that this is an embarrassment.
    Sad
And the count goes on, and on, and on……..

    • The embarrassment is educated people that don’t understand that it doesn’t matter how long it takes. The important thing is that every vote gets counted no matter how long it takes. Democracy is not a race.

    • Democracy is not a race. It’s amazing that people don’t realize that what’s important is that every vote is counted, not how fast it should be over. We, that want a fair election, aren’t embarrassed at all.

  2. You see there’s this thing called Covid. You may have heard about it. It’s why so many people voted by mail this year.

  3. These are optical read ballots, why is it taking so long?

What are they spending their work time on? Verifying signatures or is that paseé now? I mean they gave up on that in PA.

  4. Voice of reason? Lets give them plenty of time to find the dead people to vote.

    • You are right Charles. According to unconfirmed reports by undisclosed sources there are claims that hundreds of thousands of deceased people across the nation arose on Halloween night and under cover of darkness headed to the polls so the late could vote early.

  5. Denny, I like your Super Slam but how come you raised the price to $8.99?

  6. Wake up and smell the coffee, both sides cheat you dummies. This is politics. Most politicians on the highest level are the shadiest people outside of prison. There was something like 148 million votes cast, there’s no way currently for it to be 100% perfect, but in the end there will still be enough legitimate votes to prove Biden won.

  7. Hang in there Mike. You were once a tough Navy fighter pilot. Let’s not let the cheating voter-frauding, ballot harvesting Democrats don’t win this election. Having the 25th district turn into sanctuary cities would be crime central. Fortunately the “red wave” has been strong nationwide. It is nice to see more Latinos and Blacks have voting Republican since the 1960’s. The defund the police Democrat slogan is a failure. Most recently the marxist city council members in Minneapolis are asking for more police because crime has skyrocketed there. Defund the police has back fired on the Democrats. Other than free healthcare, free education, open borders, and atheists this party has nothing to offer. Other than writing big checks to China, Iran, WHO, NATO, and many more.

  8. I’d take free healthcare and free education over systemic racism, men talking about the prolife movement, and a president who condones white supremacists.

And to be clear, we need the police. There’s no doubt about that. I can agree on that one.

Also, don’t fool yourself, there may be a “red wave” but it certainly doesn’t roll through California.

  9. What alternate universe did you wake up in where you think healthcare and education is “free”?

  10. A universe lead by Bernie Sanders

  11. Nothing is free Johnny. Others pay. You do not deserve something at the expense of others when often they cannot afford the service. As to your other comment, I will leave this here to educate you; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mS5WYp5xmvI

  12. c’mon guys, there’s enough to go around.

The 59 Americans whose fortunes have ballooned amid the coronavirus pandemic now have more wealth than half the nation’s population.

Everyone knows but liberalAmericans who fell right in line with the plan. Continuing on the path of destruction.
