Assemblywoman Christy Smith, D-Santa Clarita, retook the lead over Congressman Mike Garcia, R-Santa Clarita, in the race for California’s 25th Congressional District (CA-25) Monday, with just under 1,300 votes separating the two.
As of 4:15 p.m. Monday, Smith regained the lead over Garcia in what has been one of the most tightly-contested races in recent memory for CA-25, overcoming a 432-vote gap to take the lead by 1,287 votes.
Monday’s update comes after Garcia gained ground Thursday, closing the initial gap between the two by nearly 1,500 votes when compared to the lead that Smith had as of Wednesday afternoon.
When the first vote counts were reported at around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, Smith held a larger lead over Garcia, as the first round of reporting came from Democratic-leaning vote-by-mail ballots.
However, as the voting center ballots have slowly continued to be reported, Garcia had gradually closed that gap.

Then, at around 7 p.m. Thursday, state officials reported that Garcia took the lead over Smith, leading by 265 votes at the time.
He expanded that lead during Friday’s update to 432. However, Smith earned 1,719 more votes than Garcia in Monday’s update, which placed her back in the lead.

This is why they keep counting until the preferred candidate wins. There are videos of multiple “drop boxes” being collected the day AFTER the election. What’s the point of not reporting until “the polls close” when the polls don’t effectively close until DAYS after “election day”??
I just heard on KFI radio that Alaska is going to resume ballot counting today,
a full week out from Election Day and the Libs/DemocRats are still manufacturing ballots.
