A person was airlifted to the hospital Thursday after reportedly falling off a trail near Placerita Canyon in Newhall, officials said.

Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, paramedics received reports of an injured person in the 20800 block of Placerita Canyon Road, said Austin Bennett, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“A person fell off of the trail,” Bennett said.

Once units arrived at the scene, they requested a helicopter to search for the injured person and transport the patient, according to officials.

The condition of the patient is unknown as of Thursday morning, according to Fire officials.
