Sheriff’s Officials Remind Santa Clarita Residents Fireworks Are Illegal

Officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are reminding residents as the Fourth of July approaches that all fireworks are illegal.

Deputies are reminding all residents that fireworks are illegal, and are reminding firework enthusiasts to attend the professional show provided by the City rather than risk possible fires.

“The Fourth of July celebration comes once a year, but fireworks can be heard months before, and even months after,” said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Sheriff’s officials are advising residents “whether it’s the Fourth of July, or any other day, fireworks in the Santa Clarita Valley are illegal.”

If it explodes, rises in the air, moves about the ground, it is a firework, even if it’s labeled “Safe and Sane.”

The City of Santa Clarita is scheduled to offer its free “Spirit of America” fireworks show, but in the meantime, if you know of illegal firework activity taking place contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.

“Avoid citation, and possible arrest, because if you light it, we WILL cite it,” Arriaga said.

Sheriff’s Officials Remind Santa Clarita Residents Fireworks Are Illegal

  1. I’d like to remind people that fireworks cause fires. Remember the El Dorado fire last year? Over 22,000 acres burned, one firefighter killed, ten people burned, and ten structures destroyed. All from a firework at a party.

  2. The punishment should be a mandatory 6 month jail sentence and a $10,000 lien put against the property where
The fireworks are set off. That would stop it.

  3. Mine do not identify as fireworks. They identify as Rainbow Sky glitter

  4. Every year there is countless use of illegal fireworks in my neighborhood, from sky rockets to things that sound like dynamite. I never see sheriff patrolling to catch the offenders. I’m sure the sheriff are inundated with calls and not enough officers to respond to all. You can reiterate their illegality all you want, it will not change peoples behavior until they burn down their own home.

  5. I’ve lived in the same neighborhood since1978. Every year starting in late June illegal fireworks have been the norm, from so called safe and sane to full blown pro style aerial rockets. Not once have I seen law enforcement in the area.
