Officers are investigating why a woman reportedly foot bailed across the 5 Freeway from a vehicle Friday morning near Pyramid Lake, officials said.

Around 8:45 a.m. Friday a person reportedly ran across the southbound 5 Freeway near Vista Del Lago, said Officer Josh Greengard, a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office.

“We got a call of a woman who exited an orange Toyota and began running away from the vehicle,” Greengard said.

The woman reportedly ran across the lanes and onto the mountainside, according to officials.

“CHP units responded and apprehended the woman,” Greengard said.

It’s unclear why she was running away from the vehicle and across lanes at this time, according to CHP officials.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the location to assist the CHP, according to officials.
