Local nonprofit organization Santa Clarita Coalition brings community organizers and local charities together to help the public.

By bringing together various nonprofit organizations throughout the valley, the Santa Clarita Coalition allows the community to react swiftly and efficiently when disasters strike in the community.

The Santa Clarita Disaster Coalition, one branch of the Santa Clarita Coalition, has helped source and distribute direct relief to victims of flood and fire disasters, victims of the Las Vegas  and Saugus High shootings and businesses affected by closures due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Referring to themselves as “second responders” in times of crisis, the Santa Clarita Disaster Coalition provides “supplemental humanitarian relief to people in our area who need help to rebuild their lives” in the wake of disasters.

These services are available to those who are “suffering loss due to a natural disaster, community-wide emergency, or other crisis situation in the Santa Clarita Valley, and, when appropriate, elsewhere in California and the United States,” Santa Clarita Coalition officials said.

The Santa Clarita Coalition also helps its member nonprofit organizations support the community throughout the year. For instance, through its work with Santa Clarita Grocery, the Santa Clarita Coalition aims to end hunger in the Santa Clarita Valley.
