Castaic High School has announced the hiring of Devin Davis as the new head coach of the Coyotes baseball program.

A Santa Clarita Valley native, Davis brings professional playing experience and an established connection to the Santa Clarita baseball community as he takes over leadership of the program.

Davis grew up playing youth baseball at the Hart Baseball Fields before competing on several travel teams throughout his development. He later attended Valencia High School, where he earned First Team All-Foothill League honors as one of the area’s top players.

Following his high school career, Davis was selected in the Major League Baseball Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays and spent five seasons playing professionally in the minor league systems of both the Rays and the Los Angeles Angels organizations from 2015 to 2020.

After retiring from professional baseball, Davis returned to the Santa Clarita Valley and joined the coaching staff at Castaic High School alongside his father, Darrel Davis. The father-son coaching duo helped guide the Coyotes to a historic season in 2026, culminating in the program’s first Foothill League championship.

Now taking over as head coach, Davis said he is focused on continuing the culture that has helped the program find success.

“Castaic baseball is built on hard work, commitment, and pride in representing our school and community,” Davis said in the school’s press release. “I’m honored for the opportunity to lead this program and excited to help our players grow both on and off the field.”

Castaic High School Principal Ben Wobrock praised the hire, citing Davis’ experience and ties to the community.

“Devin brings a tremendous amount of experience and passion to our baseball program,” said Wobrock. “His background as a professional athlete, combined with his strong ties to the Santa Clarita & Castaic communities, makes him an outstanding leader for our students and baseball program.”

The Coyotes are coming off one of the most successful seasons in school history, and school officials expressed confidence that Davis will continue building on that momentum as the program looks toward the future.
