Canyon Football Falls To Crespi In Season Opener

The Canyon High School football team (0-1) was defeated by Crespi last night in their first game of the season by a score of 3 – 37.

The Cowboys struggled to move the ball on offense all night against a stifling Crespi defense.

Canyon quarterback Aydyn Litz was on the run most of the night, as Crespi was regularly able to apply pressure to the quarterback when he dropped back.

Litz was athletic enough to create some offense for himself with his legs, but ultimately the Cowboys offense never could quite string together a complete drive.

Canyon’s lone score of the night came on a field goal late in the fourth quarter behind the leg of kicker Jarrett Reeser after the Canyon defense was able to force a fumble from Crespi in the red zone.

Several missed assignments on the defensive side of the ball over the course of the night caused the Cowboys to give up some big plays for Crespi.

The Cowboys will look to bounce back next week on the road at San Fernando High School.
