COC Basketball

While the Cougars’ men’s basketball team continues to falter (suffered its eighth straight defeat and still winless in conference play), the women’s team has simply stayed dominant.

Hannah Green had another stellar double-double last night, dropping 29 points on 12-23 shooting to go along with her 14 boards and five blocks to lead COC to its twelfth consecutive victory (70-58 on the road at Antelope Valley).

The Cougars (7-0) completed a perfect first half of Western State Conference play. Up next is Santa Monica at home on Saturday.

Los Angeles Lakers

Still searching for that ever-elusive tenth win, the Lakers are back on the Staples Center court tonight against the visiting Chicago Bulls.

It’s unclear if Kobe Bryant (shoulder) will play, but the Bulls will be at full-strength with Derrick Rose given the green light after missing the second half of Chicago’s last game (right hamstring soreness).

In other Lakers news, LA announced Wednesday night that Shaquille O’Neal is getting a statue. The Lakers legend is in his signature dunking pose and it will be unveiled during the 2016/17 season.

Jimmy Kimmel was given the opportunity to surprise Shaq with the news on his talk show and Shaq was in complete disbelief, assuming the comedian was playing a practical joke on him.
