Los Angeles Dodgers

Dodgers fans, meet panic button. It’s officially time to be alarmed.

What feels impossible in a season that the LA Dodgers spent a couple weeks more than 50 games over .500 became reality Sunday afternoon; the MLB wins leader is in the midst of a ten-game losing streak. Make it the worst losing streak since 1992. Since August 26, Los Angeles is 1-15. The reigning American League champion Cleveland Indians are 16-0 during the same stretch. In fact, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Dodgers are the first team to have a 15-1 stretch and a 1-15 stretch in the same season.

Sunday’s 8-1 defeat to Colorado at Dodger Stadium was without question the lowest point of the season. The Rockies strolled into Chavez Ravine 2-5 in their previous seven games and proceeded to knock the Dodgers around for 28 runs in a four-game sweep.

LA has lost nine straight home games for the first time since 1987 (via MLB.com). Nine straight home L’s for a team that had the best fifty game stretch in league history earlier this summer (42-8).

There’s no rest for the weary, as the Dodgers begin a ten game road trip tonight in San Francisco. Nineteen games remain in the regular season and LA has not clinched a playoff spot, let alone the National League West. Remarkably, the club is still nine games ahead of the D-Backs in the division, but if the bats don’t wake up soon it is concievable they could stumble to the Wild Card or even miss out on the postseason altogether (if the last sixteen games are an indication of the next sixteen).

First pitch from AT&T Park is at 7:15, and you can listen live on your Dodgers station, KHTS.
