Thursday Scoreboard:

Hart: 0

West Ranch: 3

West Ranch flexed its muscle in a sweep at home to Hart to claim the top spot in the Foothill League at 5-0. The Indians made it as competitive a 3-0 match could be, though, pushing the second set to 28-30 and the third 24-26. Hart drops to 4-1.

Valencia: 3

Saugus: 1

The Vikings picked up a much needed win at Saugus, coming alive after losing the first game 17-25. Valencia was +22 in the final three sets. Saugus is 1-2 at home in league play.

Golden Valley: 3

Canyon: 0

Canyon was competitive in the first game, dropping it 23-25, before giving way in the final two games to go down in a sweep. The Cowboys have yet to win a game in the Foothill League.

College of the Canyons

Football: No. 13 Canyons hosts No. 7 Cerritos in a matchup up formidable Southern California programs. The Cougars caught a break last week when their game last week against Santa Barbara was moved to Cougar Stadium due to a power outage. That means a rare four straight home games to open the season.

COC has been balanced on offense and is converting 41% of their third downs, a strong number. Where they need to improve upon is their red zone touch down percentage; at 52% right now, that number should be much closer to 65%. It’ll be a huge challenge against a cerritos defense that allows just 14.7 points per game.

The Master’s University

Men’s Soccer: The Mustangs take a three game winning streak into Saturday’s match against Bethesda University. The Flames snapped a three game skid on Tuesday with a win over St. Katherine. Senior Dylan Bielanski has a three game goal streak going. Kickoff is at 4:00.
