SCV Baseball Update: West Ranch, Saugus Tied In Foothill League; Trinity Leads Heritage

In the span of a week, the Foothill League standings have shifted dramatically. Hart has fallen from first to third, while West Ranch now sits atop the league with Saugus right alongside them, both holding identical 7-3 records.

In the Heritage League, Trinity Classical Academy leads the standings, with Santa Clarita Christian School (SCCS) currently in third.

Foothill League

West Ranch (13-11, 7-3) vs. Notre Dame (14-6)
The Wildcats return to action Saturday at 10 a.m. at West Ranch High School in a non-league matchup against Notre Dame.

Following that, they’ll enter their final league series against Hart. That series could either secure West Ranch’s second consecutive Foothill League title or open the door for another contender.

Saugus (11-10, 7-3) vs. Golden Valley (11-9, 2-6)
Saugus heads into its final league series against Golden Valley with title implications on the line.

A sweep would give the Centurions a strong chance at the league crown, depending on West Ranch’s results against Hart. If both teams mirror each other’s outcomes, co-championship scenarios are in play.

Golden Valley is out of title contention but remains in the mix for an at-large playoff berth. The Grizzlies open their series against Saugus on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and will face Valencia beginning April 29.

Hart (10-10-1, 5-2-1) vs. Castaic (15-8, 5-3)
This matchup carries significant weight in the standings. Castaic sits just behind Hart and could leapfrog them with a series sweep. Meanwhile, Hart needs at least one win to maintain its position heading into the final week of league play.

Valencia (8-12-1, 3-4-1) vs. Canyon (8-13, 0-8)
Valencia is out of the title race but remains in contention for a playoff spot. With a series against Canyon beginning Wednesday and another against Golden Valley next week, plus three non-league games remaining, the Vikings still have time to build a postseason resume.

Canyon, meanwhile, is still searching for its first league win of the season.

Heritage League

Trinity (10-10, 2-0) at Immanuel (11-9)
Trinity leads the Heritage League following a series sweep of SCCS. Before returning to league play, the Knights will play two non-league games Saturday against Immanuel and Fresno Christian.

They’ll then face Vasquez and Desert Christian to close out the season. With only four league games remaining and Vasquez sitting at 7-2, every game is critical. A sweep by Vasquez could knock Trinity out of first place.

SCCS (9-6, 8-3) vs. Valley Torah (0-10, 0-8)
SCCS is currently in the middle of a series against Valley Torah, taking Game 1 in dominant fashion, 10-0. Game 2 is scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m. The Cardinals will wrap up the regular season with a final series against St. Monica Academy.
