Valencia High School gathered this week to celebrate star running back Brian Bonner, who officially signed his National Letter of Intent early to continue his football career at the University of Washington.
Bonner, who began his varsity journey as a sophomore, leaves behind a decorated legacy. He was named the 2025 co-Foothill League Player of the Year, the 2024 Offensive Player of the Year, and ranks among the program’s all-time leaders: sixth in rushing yards, 10th in receiving yards, and fourth in rushing touchdowns.
This season, he totaled 1,051 rushing yards, four 100-plus yard games, 525 receiving yards, and 18 total touchdowns. Regarded as a top-five running back in the nation, Bonner received more than 30 college offers before choosing Washington.

“I chose Washington mainly because I feel the connection with the coaches; they’ve really shown me a lot of love throughout the entire process,” said Bonner.
His early signing also comes with an early graduation, allowing him to join the Huskies in the spring. Bonner acknowledged some nerves about leaving family and friends, but said the decision gives him a head start both academically and athletically.
“I feel like it gives me a little advantage academically and on the field, being in there a little earlier than some people,” said Bonner.
Head Coach Larry Muir praised Bonner’s development and versatility throughout his time in the Valencia program.
“He’s so versatile, he could do so many things out of the backfield, he can line up at receiver, you could do so many things with him. You can direct snap it to him, he’s a special talent… Washington is getting a guy that is very complete,” Muir said.
Muir added that Bonner’s biggest upsides include his speed and physicality, and noted that his ability to pass protect has improved immensely over his senior year.
“We just pore into the kids here and when you pore into them, you’re going to try to pull everything out of them that you possibly can,” said Muir.

He added that the support goes well beyond the coaching staff and also comes from the counselors, administration and teachers.
“It’s a group effort that makes that happen for [Bonner] and that’s something we just do here at Valencia for all our kids,” said Muir.
As Bonner prepares to join the University of Washington in the spring, Valencia celebrates not only his achievements but the dedication and teamwork that helped him reach the next level.
