Members of the Saugus High School golf team are hosting their annual tournament next month with hopes to generate funds for the entire program.

The 14th annual Saugus High School Golf tournament — an annual fundraiser for the local high school’s girls and guys golf teams — is being held June 5th at Tournament Players Club in Valencia. All of the funds raised from the tournament go directly to the Saugus golf program.

The tournament shall include contests such as longest drive, closest to the pin and a putting contest, with awards being handed out for each event.

Registration for the tournament will include: golf cart, green fees, tee prize, goodie bag, the putting and driving contests, on-course games, individual and team prizes, an open taco bar and a silent auction.

These funds raised from the tournament shall cover expenses, such as daily practice fees, range balls, green fees, uniforms, golf equipment and travel costs, according to a flier for the event.

The team plans to also set aside money generated by the event to help players who may not otherwise be able to enjoy the sport of golf due to financial or other limitations, said the release.

“Participating in our golf tournament is an easy and fun way to support our program. Our student-athlete golfers are sincerely grateful for your contributions,” said event organizers.
