Canyon Country Gas Leak Prompts Shelter In Place Warning

A natural gas leak in Canyon Country resulted in a shelter-in-place warning on Monday evening.

At approximately 4:50 PM Monday evening, first responders received reports of a damaged natural gas line on the 27700 block of Adonis Lane near Shangri-La Drive in Canyon Country, according to Ahmad Solomon, spokesperson for SoCalGas.

“The damage appears to have been caused by a third-party contractor working in the area,” Solomon stated.

No evacuations were ordered, however, a shelter-in-place warning and road closures were enacted out of precaution, according to fire officials on scene.

About 18 SoCal Gas customers were without service due to the incident, according to SoCalGas.

No danger to the public was anticipated due to the incident, officials at the scene stated.

The area is expected to be closed for several hours, officials concluded.

SoCalGas reminds residents and business owners to call 811 before they dig in the garden or at a construction site. Calling 811 protects against possible injury or damage to hidden utility lines.
