A Canyon Country brush fire that broke out early Tuesday morning is under investigation as possible arson, officials said.
The fire was reported at about 4 a.m. Tuesday near the southbound 14 Freeway at Via Princessa in Canyon Country, according to Franklin Lopez, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“We had a working fire,” Lopez said, adding no structures were threatened.
After about 90 minutes, firefighters called forward progress stopped on the fire at about five acres, according to Lopez
Once firefighters achieved a full handle on the blaze, the size was determined to be slightly increased at just under six acres, Lopez said.
A deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) Arson Explosives Detail confirmed investigators are en route to the fire to determine if it is arson.
“We are going out there, it is still under investigation,” Deputy Velazquez said.
No injuries were reported in the incident, according to Fire officials.
