The second floor of a home partially collapsed during a Canyon Country structure fire Wednesday evening.

Around 5:30 p.m., firefighters received reports of a structure fire in the 27000 block of Buckskin Drive in Canyon Country, said Chad Chebbi, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

When units arrived on scene, they reported smoke and fire were showing from the rear of the structure, according to Chebbi.

The fire spread to the home’s attic and went through the roof, according to officials.

During the firefight, the second floor of the home partially collapsed, according to Chebbi.

It is believed the fire was caused by an accidental fireplace malfunction.
