Firefighters received reports of a structure fire on the 19000 block of Maplebay Court in Canyon Country at approximately 4:09 p.m. Saturday, according to LACoFD officials.

While initial reports advised firefighters that there were possibly people inside the home, they did not find anyone when they arrived on scene, as the owners of the house were not home, officials said.

However, what they did find was a single-story residence at the end of a cul-de-sac with smoke and flames coming out of one of the front windows. Upon entering the home, they found the dog, who was having respiratory issues as a result of the smoke, according to officials.

Firefighters quickly carried the dog outside, where they administered oxygen. The dog is expected to recover, according to LACoFD officials.

Officials were able to extinguish the blaze within minutes of arrival, with knockdown on the Canyon Country house fire being called at 4:20 p.m.

At least one room inside the home was visibly burned, according to officials. No one was reported injured, and no other structures were damaged.
