Firefighters battled a brush fire throughout the night in Gorman.

Around 10:10 p.m. Monday, firefighters received reports of a brush fire on the southbound 5 Freeway south of Highway 138 in Gorman, said Luis Garcia, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

A second alarm response was requested at 11:25 p.m. to bring in additional firefighting equipment to aid in the firefight, according to Garcia.

By 12:49 a.m. Tuesday, forward progress of the fire was stopped at 8 acres, according to Garcia.

No structures were damaged or destroyed, according to officials.

The cause of the Gorman fire was not released to the media.
