A red flag warning is in effect for the Interstate 5 (I-5)corridor just north of Santa Clarita due to warm and dry conditions.
The Red Flag Warning is scheduled to be in place from 1 p.m. Friday through Saturday at 6 a.m., according to officials with the Angeles National Forest Service, (ANF))
Drivers are to take precaution as very dry fuels, exceptionally low relative humidity values, and gusty winds can contribute to extreme fire behavior, said officials with the Hanford National Weather Service office.
“High winds (plus) high temps will reduce the amount of moisture in vegetation to very low levels,” said officials with Angeles National Forest.
The minimum relative humidity is expected at 6 to 12 percent, with poor overnight recovery.
During the red flag warning, northwest winds are also expected to be between fifteen to thirty MPH with isolated gusts expected to reach 45MPH, according to ANF.
Some areas expect temperatures to reach triple-digits as high as 105 degrees.
If you see a wildfire, immediately call 911 and avoid the area as the fire can spread quickly according to officials.
