Super Scoopers Return To L.A County

The two Super Scoopers contracted from Quebec, Canada, are returning to Los Angeles County to assist in battling brush fires throughout the county, including Santa Clarita.

The two super scoopers and 12 crew are expected to arrive to Van Nuys Airport by the end of the month, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The two aircraft are on a 90-day lease; however, if fires continue to be a threat at the end of the deployment, the aircraft lease can be extended.

The two superscoopers are expected to work in tandem with each other, joining the existing fleet of helicopters to battle fires throughout Los Angeles County and Santa Clarita.

Each plane is capable of holding 1,600 gallons of water, so when they drop in tandem, they are able to put approximately 3,200 gallons of water on a fire at once.

These aircraft use local water sources such as Castaic Lake, Pyramid Lake, the Pacific Ocean, as well as other large waterways to fill their tanks.

The water-dropping planes are dispatched to all first alarm brush fires within L.A. County.

“Update – 05/01/2026”

During wildfire responses, evacuations and precautionary closures can leave residents waiting for extended periods while staying indoors or away from their homes. In those moments, many people turn to online platforms built around real-time interaction—following live updates, video streams, or other live digital experiences, including live dealer platforms that rely on streaming technology and direct user engagement.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
