Texas Fire Breaks Out In Bouquet Canyon, Evacuations Lifted

The Texas Fire has broken out in Bouquet Canyon Thursday afternoon, prompting evacuations, officials said.

UPDATE: 4:20 p.m. — Forward progress on the Texas Fire has stopped at 150 acres, with containment doubling to about 10 percent, according to officials with the Angeles National Forest.

An aggressive and decisive ground and air attack has grown the containment and allowed ANF and Los Angeles County Fire to get the upper hand on this fire, according to the ANF.

UPDATE: 4:10 p.m. — All Texas Fire evacuations have now been lifted, according to Supervisor Kathryn Barger.

UPDATE: 3:20 p.m. — The Texas Fire has now reached about 130 acres, with 5 percent containment, according to officials with the Angeles National Forest.

Three air tankers with five helicopters in the attack, according to the ANF.

UPDATE: 2:55 p.m. —  Evacuations are taking place on Bouquet Canyon between Vasquez Canyon Road and Spunky Canyon due to the Texas Fire, according to the City of Santa Clarita.

UPDATE: 2:45 p.m. — The Texas Fire has now reached 100 acres in Bouquet Canyon, with 0 percent containment, according to officials with the Angeles National Forest.

A second-alarm response was requested to the fire, according to the ANF.

UPDATE: 2:10 p.m. — The rapid-moving Texas Fire has now grown to 50 acres, with at least one structure threatened, according to John Clearwater with the Angeles National Forrest.

The brush fire, dubbed the Texas Fire, was first reported at about 1:47 p.m. near the 30500 block of Bouquet Canyon Road north of Texas Canyon, according to Marvin Lim, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Original Story: As of 1 p.m., the Texas Fire has reached about three acres,  with a rapid rate of spread in medium-to-heavy fuels, according to Fire officials.

Firefighters requested Bouquet Canyon shut down in both directions between Vasquez Canyon Road and Spunky Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
