On this week’s episode of National Real Estate Cafe, with Santa Clarita Real Estate experts Don Goettling and Gino Fronti, they discuss why this housing market boom is different than the one that crashed.
“The last housing crash in the 2000’s was built on loose lending standards that are being controlled now,” said Don. “Nothing was regulated and there was tons of fraud.”
One of the reasons this housing boom is different is because the standards lenders are using are much more regulated and strict.

“We’re lenders, we’ve been doing this for 31 years,” said Don. “99% of you qualify for your home, meaning you show the ability to repay that mortgage.”
There is a bigger inventory of houses lately, which is good news.
“Millennials are a much bigger generation than Baby Boomers,” said Gino, “and we need to house them all.”
