The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is soon set to close portions of the 14 Freeway for a pavement rehabilitation project in an effort to improve the conditions of the road, officials said.

Scheduled closures are set for Jan. 2 through Jan. 5 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., but are subject to change, according to Caltrans officials.
The project includes replacing concrete slabs, grinding and striping a 29-mile stretch on both directions of SR-14 between Via Princessa in Canyon Country and Technology Drive in Palmdale.
Motorists should expect delays and are advised to plan ahead by using alternative routes. Additionally, motorists can check traffic conditions by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap.
The entire freeway rehabilitation project is estimated to be completed in spring 2019 and requires closing two lanes for a safe work zone for workers, according to Caltrans.

Wth? I,m sorry but with what I’m hearing is coming up this direction- never ending housing, plush hotel resorts around Sand canton, more never- ending housing, shouldn’t the issue be expanding the 14 to accommodate the thousands of additional vehicles that inevitably will further strangle our community? Really? Appease the mass with cosmetics? This is an old problem that’s going to explode if someone doesn’t step up and address.
