Benjamin Marquez IV, 31 of Castaic was identified as the man who first responders found dead after he had been trapped in a truck for two days following a crash in Castaic.

Just before 1 p.m. Saturday, officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of a single-vehicle crash near Oak Valley Road and The Old Road in Castaic, according to an official with the department’s Command and Control center.

Firefighters on scene later confirmed that the truck was found by an individual riding a dirt bike nearby, who heard cries of distress emanating from the vehicle.

Officials believe that the original crash actually took place on Thursday, Jan. 21, with the two occupants being trapped in the truck since then.
