Authorities are seeking the public’s help in identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run collision at the intersection of Sierra Highway and Soledad Canyon Road.
The crash occurred just before 8 a.m. Tuesday, while the victim was stopped at a red light.
According to the victim, his vehicle was struck from behind by a young female driver who appeared to be using her cellphone at the time of the collision.
After the crash, the victim said the two drivers briefly spoke and agreed to move their vehicles to a nearby parking lot to exchange information. However, the other driver fled the scene before providing any details.
The victim reported that the driver still had her phone in hand when he approached her following the collision, and he believes distracted driving may have contributed to the crash.
The suspect vehicle is described as a small, gray sedan, possibly a Nissan or Toyota, older model, with significant front-end damage, including a visibly buckled hood.
The driver is described as a young woman, possibly between 17 and her early 20s, with a slender build and dark, shoulder-length hair. She is between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 4 inches, though she remained seated during their interaction.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies are expected to take a full report. The area is believed to have nearby surveillance cameras that may have captured the incident.
Anyone with information about the collision or the identity of the driver is encouraged to contact the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
