Newhall Crash Victim Searching For Good Samaritan Who Helped Until Paramedics Arrived

A person who was injured in a 14 Freeway crash in Newhall Wednesday morning wants to thank the good Samaritan who helped him until paramedics arrived.

On Wednesday around 11:20 a.m., Joseph Geraci, of Burbank, was traveling on the southbound 14 Freeway south of Newhall Avenue when his vehicle collided with the center divider.

“When he hit the guardrail, he hit his head on the windshield from him not wearing his seatbelt,” said Jolynn Geraci, Joseph’s daughter. “When the airbags deployed, they shot him over to the passenger side and his head ended up in the flooring of the side, and his leg was stuck between the steering wheel and the dashboard.”

A good Samaritan who saw the crash happen pulled over and helped Joseph until paramedics arrived.

Despite colliding with the center divider and being thrown to the opposite side of the vehicle, Joseph did not suffer major injuries, only some bruising, his daughter said.

“They took him to the hospital and told him he didn’t have any broken bones,” Jolynn said.

The Geracis said they are very thankful to the person who stopped and assisted Joseph until help arrived, and are hoping that the good Samaritan will come forward so they can thank him personally.

“My dad wants to be able to thank this guy. And we hope he comes forward,” Jolynn said.

The good Samaritan can contact KHTS Radio here to be put in touch with the Geraci family.

  1. To the Good Samaritan,
Your actions are a wonderful thing but to remain the Good Samaritan that you are you must remain anonymous like the one in the Bible. Live in the peace that you are a good person and seek no reward.
There have been people who have stopped to help only to be sued by the very people they were helping.

    • Agreee…. your reward is in Heaven. But I thank you for showing love to a fellow human.

    • Last Wednesday the 28th of August, we were headed South on the 14 near Aqua Dulce road and a guy in a dark (black?) pickup passed us in the emergency lane left of the diamond lane going about 85 or 90mph. This was at about 2:00 pm. 5 or 10 minutes later he had just crashed hard into the center dividing wall. Some cars stopped in front of him to check up on him and he was laying across the passenger seat and bleeding heavily from his head. It looked like he didn’t have a seatbelt on and hit the windshield and rolled into the passenger side. I was just wondering if anyone has any follow-up on this. Also, I would be willing to testify as to my witnessing him driving recklessly if needed. There didn’t appear to be any other vehicles involved.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
