Two people were trapped after a pair of semi-trucks collided in a crash on the 5 Freeway Thursday morning.
Around 1 a.m., California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to a crash involving two semi-trucks and an SUV on the northbound 5 Freeway near Magic Mountain Parkway in Valencia, said Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.
When units arrived on scene, they determined one of the semi-trucks became detached from the trailer, according to Burgos-Lopez.
“Two parties inside the detached semi-truck were trapped inside and had suffered major injuries,” Burgos-Lopez said.
Firefighters arrived on scene and extricated and transported the injured patients to Henry Mayo Hospital, according to CHP officials.
All lanes of the northbound 5 Freeway were briefly closed, however, all lanes were reopened by 5:23 a.m.
