UPDATE: 23-Year-Old Valencia Man Killed In Fatal Stevenson Ranch Crash Identified

A 23-year-old Valencia resident has been identified as the person killed in a fatal Stevenson Ranch crash Sunday evening, officials said.

UPDATE (9:14 a.m. Nov. 9): Jonathan Manuel Dacosta, 23, of Valencia has been identified by Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office as the person killed in a solo-vehicle traffic collision Sunday evening, according to spokesperson Sarah Ardalani.

Original Story: Around 6:20 p.m. Sunday, emergency responders received reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree off of Poe Parkway and Verne Court, according to Michael Pittman with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“It came in as a vehicle versus pole, but turned out it was a vehicle versus tree,” said Pittman. “CHP is still on scene.”

The vehicle was discovered crashed into an oak tree off of the roadway.

One person was declared dead on scene, according to Pittman. The identity of the victim was not immediately available as of Sunday evening.

  1. Bless him and his family. That’s a speed trap down that hill.

  2. Reminds me of the song, “Oh that smell”, where one line says, “Oak tree you’re in my way”

  3. Sounds like the pole was in his way. The oak tree is considerably off the road.
