With the snow pack above average this year, Sampson noted it bodes well for water levels in the upcoming spring and summer months, which he said “really is the most important part of healthy fishery.”

Expert fly fishing guides are preparing to launch their boats on the banks of the Jefferson, Madison and Ruby Rivers, and both experienced fly fishers and those who have never seen a fly fishing rod before are invited to experience the world famous streams.

“I’d say we’re 97, 96 percent booked up for the coming year, but we do have a couple of spaces,” Sampson said, “and we hope some of your local southern California folks would like to come up and pay us a visit.”

Sampson described Ruby Springs Lodge as “a very high end operation” with private accommodations right along the banks of the Ruby River, a 6,000-acre ranch and a private restaurant.

“A high end experience is the best way I can describe it — a lot of service involved and being able to enjoy the outdoors with fly fishing as the avenue to get there,” Sampson said. “It’s a great vehicle to get you outside and see the unbelievable beauty that Montana has to offer, with gorgeous springs, very few people and incredible wildlife.”
