Santa Ana winds are expected to slightly decrease before ramping up again Wednesday evening in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Northeast winds, or as they are better known as Santa Ana winds, are expected to be around 15 to 25 mph through the afternoon into the evening before they start winding down, said Mike Wofford, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service (NWS).
“We are expecting a bigger ramp up Wednesday night into Thursday morning,” Wofford said.
Winds are expected to be 30 to 50 mph throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.
Although winds are expected to slightly diminish before ramping back up, NWS officials are going to extend the Current red flag warning through Thursday evening.
“Even though we will see several hours of benign conditions, relatively speaking, we will be leaving the red flag warning in effect through the next event,” Wofford said.
By Sunday, NWS officials are tracking rain for the area, however, it remains unclear what areas of Southern California will see the heaviest rainfall.
“It’s still quite uncertain because the chance of rain is high, about 60 to 80 percent, but it can range from a sprinkle to a quarter to half an inch in some areas,” Wofford said.
