Over the Labor Day Weekend, the Santa Clarita Valley is expected to receive rain from Hurricane Marie.
Conditions are set to be dry through Saturday in the Santa Clarita Valley before rain moves into the area, said Rose Schoendfeld, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
“In Santa Clarita, there will be an extended period of at least chances of light rain,” Schoendfeld said.
Rain is expected to be off and on from Saturday night through Sunday, according to officials.
“Right now totals for most of the area will be under a quarter of an inch, but we can’t rule out maybe a half an inch by the end of it all,” Schoendfeld said.
Officials say there is a 5 to 15 percent chance of thunderstorms. If thunderstorms were to form, heavier rain with gusty winds are possible.
Drivers are also being reminded to use caution while driving because the roads are slick from oil that has built up on the ground, mixing with water.
Conditions are expected to dry out by Monday, however, NWS officials say there is a chance for more rainfall later in the week.
