Two separate storm systems are expected to sweep through the Santa Clarita Valley this week, bringing around an inch of rain to the area.
Tuesday through Friday the region can expect to see wet weather, with two distinct storm systems bringing light to moderate rain, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
For Tuesday through Wednesday, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties are likely to see 0.75 to 2 inches of rain in the lowlands and 2 to 4 inches in the mountains.
Meanwhile, more inland regions such as Los Angeles County are likely to see approximately 1 inch.
The second storm system expected to pass through Thursday and Friday, is projected to bring an additional 0.5 to 1 inches of rain, according to the NWS.
Free sand and sandbags are available at all Los Angeles County Fire stations in the Santa Clarita Valley for anyone near recent burn areas.
Snow levels are expected to be very high, impacting areas at 6,500 to 8,000 feet and above, which should leave the 5 Freeway through the Grapevine unscathed. The highest point in the journey at the Tejon Pass is approximately 4,144 feet above sea level.
