Santa Clarita Expected To Have A Wet Christmas

Dreaming of a wet Christmas? Santa Clarita is expected to have rain for most of next week.

Next week rain is expected to move into the Santa Clarita Valley, said Bryan Lewis, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service (NWS).

While the exact timing of the storm is still uncertain, Lewis says, for now the brunt of the rain is expected to begin Tuesday lasting through Thursday, Christmas Day.

Showers are expected to linger through the end of the week and possibly into the weekend, according to NWS officials.

The storm is expected to bring anywhere from 2 to 5 inches of precipitation to the Santa Clarita Valley.

Snow levels are expected to drop down to 5,500 feet, which would not impact the Grapevine, according to Lewis.

As of Friday, no flood advisories or watches have been issued for the recent burn scars. However, due to the continuous rainfall predicted, NWS officials say there may be watches issued later into the weekend.

The up coming Christmas storm is also expected to bring gusty winds, with gusts up to 40 mph at times, according to Lewis.

Santa Clarita residents can expect temperatures to begin dropping this weekend with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s Saturday, and see highs reaching the mid 50s into Christmas week.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
