After triple digits hit Santa Clarita over the weekend heatwave, temperatures are expected to be 10 degrees cooler during the week and around 25 degrees cooler by the weekend, officials said.
Over the weekend, a high-pressure ridge caused winds to come from the northeast, bringing hot dry air from the desert to the Santa Clarita area, said Kristen Stewart, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
Tuesday, temperatures are expected to range from 95 to 105 degrees as a result of the lingering system.
With temperatures still near 100 degrees, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory from 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The hot temperatures are set to increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, according to officials.

The most vulnerable include those involved with outdoor activities, those without access to air conditioning, young children and the elderly.
However, temperatures are set to start cooling off throughout the week, according to officials.
“The high-pressure ridge is going to weaken,” Stewart said.
With the high-pressure ridge weakening, winds are expected to shift, resulting in cooler air from the ocean blowing towards Santa Clarita, officials said.
Starting Wednesday temperatures are expected to be in the low 90s; however, a high wind advisory is set to affect the 14 Freeway, raising concerns for potential brush fires.
Starting Friday, temperatures are expected to be back into the low 80s, according to officials.
