A high wind Red Flag Warning has been announced for the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding areas this weekend.
The National Weather Service (NWS) announced that the Red Flag Warning would be in effect from 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, through 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22.
With gusty winds and relatively low humidity, offshore wind gusts of 35 to 55 mph are expected across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, with isolated gusts up to 60 mph in the mountains and foothills.
Gusty Santa Ana winds are expected to continue into Monday morning, however, wind speeds are expected to be 10 to 15 mph less than Sunday, NWS officials said.
Temperatures are expected to peak between 75 and 85 degrees, which when combined with low humidity and high winds, the criteria has been met to issue a red flag warning, according to officials.
For Santa Clarita residents living in prone areas for brush fires are being urged to be ready to evacuate if a fire is to ignite.
