Dodgers Propelled To 6-2 Win Over Giants With Late Offensive Outburst

The Los Angeles Dodgers (11-5) ended their second series of the season with the San Francisco Giants (7-10) on a 6-2 win Sunday behind a pair of three-run home runs from A.J. Pollock and Mookie Betts late in the game.

Walker Buehler started on the mound for the Dodgers and made it into the fifth inning without giving up a run, but Giants’ outfielder Mike Yastrzemski made contact for a two RBI single that put the Giants on the board first with a 2-0 lead.

Buehler made it out of the remainder of the inning unscathed, but the Dodgers looked to the bullpen in the sixth and had success, shutting the Giants out the rest of the way.

The Dodgers offense finally came to life in the seventh inning, when a pair of back-to-back singles from Justin Turner and Cody Bellinger found A.J. Pollock to the mound with two runners on. Pollock delivered and homered to left field to make the score 3-2, Dodgers.

The offensive momentum carried into the eighth inning, as a walk to catcher Will Smith followed by a double from Kike Hernandez on a line drive left field set the Dodgers up once again with two runners in scoring position.

With a flyout from Joc Pederson it was Mookie Betts who had the opportunity to answer the call this time and rose to the occasion with his own three-run home run blast to left field to expand the Dodgers lead to 6-2.

Dodgers closer Kenley Jensen took the mound in the ninth to seal the deal and pick up his fourth save of the season.

With the conclusion of their series with the Giants the Dodgers now begin preparations to continue their homestand with a four-game series against the San Diego Padres () starting tonight at 6:40 p.m.
