Dodgers Take Series Win Against The Braves Following Heart-Felt Return For Freeman

The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the current defending World Series champions, Atlanta Braves, 5-3 on Sunday in extra innings to take the weekend series.

The series was shadowed by the return of former Brave and current Dodger, Freddie Freeman, who played for the Braves since he was drafted in 2010. Freeman signed a 6-year deal worth $162 million with the Dodgers in the offseason.

Los Angeles took two out of the three games against Atlanta following a 4-1 Dodgers win in game one and a 5-3 Braves win in game two.

Freeman seemed to have forgotten that he had played for the Braves, averaging a .333 batting average (BA) in three games and having a double in game three.

Throughout the entirety of the series, it seemed like the Dodger fans had taken over Truist Park, the home of the Braves, but it wasn’t the L.A. fans because it was the Atlanta fans expressing their gratitude towards Freeman with multiple standing ovations every time he was up to bat.

Freeman didn’t hesitate to show his gratitude towards the fans by tipping his cap and even leaving him in shock because every time he would step out of the batter’s box he would shake his head in awe.

“I just want to say thanks again,” Freeman said after the game. “It surpassed all my expectations.”

During the post-game interviews, Freeman didn’t hold back his emotions as he was in tears talking about his time with the Atlanta Braves.

“I love the Braves organization with all my heart,” Freeman said tearfully. “I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for this organization.”

The Dodgers are set to take the road to a mile-high city to face off against the struggling Colorado Rockies on June 27, 2022 at 5:40 P.M. PST.
