Dodgers Top Off Near-Historic July With Win Against Rockies

The Los Angeles Dodgers took the mile-high plane ride to Denver to face the Colorado Rockies this past weekend to take the four-game series.

The Dodgers topped off a near-historic July by closing out the month with a 21-5 record. That record now places them in 4th for all-time win-loss records in July.

Los Angeles took the lead in the top of the third inning when James Outman, the Dodgers’ outfielder, in his first at-bat in the majors crushed a ball to deep right-center field for a home run (HR) to open his big league career with a bang.

Outman, who spent the first half of the season in Triple-A with the Oklahoma City Dodgers, the Los Angeles Minor League affiliate, earned the call of his life after swinging for the fences 21 times in 341 at-bats and averaging a .271 batting average (BA).

The Rockies quickly got three runs back after the Colorado catcher, Brian Serven, smashed an HR to left field to get a run back. Randal Grichuk, the Rockies right fielder, singled to right field to bring home two more runs.

The Dodgers would go on and continue to stack on runs in the fourth inning following Los Angeles outfielder Cody Bellinger’s two-run double to give the Dodgers a 4-3 lead.

In the fifth, Dodger’s utility infielder, Max Muncy, who’s been struggling at the plate this year, hit for a sac-fly to ring up another run for Los Angeles.

Outman, who’s having the debut of his dreams, would hit a sharp line drive double to bring home the final run of the game. Outman would finish the game with three hits in four at-bats, starting his major league career in style.

The Dodgers would beat the Rockies 7-3, taking the weekend series and ending off the month with a 21-5 record in July. Los Angeles’s record stands at 68-33 and leads the National League (NL) West by 12 games, as of Monday morning.

As the Dodgers seem to be running away with the division title, the New York Yankees, who have the best record in the whole league seem to be who Los Angeles is trying to overtake, only trailing by one game, as of Monday morning.

The Boys in Blue are now taking the short flight over to the Bay Area to take on the San Francisco Giants in a four-game series starting Monday at 6:45 P.M. PT.

  1. Near historic is nearly important, nearly interesting, nearly worth key strokes, and I am nearly, but NOT, interested in reading.
