“It actually happens pretty often,” said Inspector Richard Licon of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “One of the volts in the underground electrical system caught fire and came up through the vents.”

A pile of mulch near the dealership that had been placed just above the electrical system also became inflamed as a result, said Licon.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 2:56 a.m. and arrived on scene at 2:59 a.m.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies and Edison technicians were also on hand to assist until 4:15 a.m.

No structures were threatened and no individuals were injured.
