The annual College of the Canyons Women’s Conference returns Saturday, Mar. 28 with an exciting lineup of presenters and breakout sessions designed to help attendees achieve their personal and professional goals, according to a news release.

The 2015 College of the Canyons Women’s Conference “Blossom and Bloom: Cultivating Your Personal Growth,” will be held from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Sat., Mar. 28, in the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center, located on the college’s Valencia campus, the University Center Drive entrance, according to a news release.

“The focus of this year’s event is reaching out to multiple generations of women. We have sessions for middle and high school girls, college and professional women as well as mature adults,” said Dr. Diane Fiero, Assistant Superintendent/Vice President, Human Resources at the college. “We hope to see women bringing family members and friends and enjoying a wonderful day of information, inspiration and motivation.”

Acknowledging topics that lead to professional success and personal satisfaction, according to a news release, this year’s Women’s Conference focuses on the following key information strands:

  •      The Generations — social Media for young women; hands-on robotics; managing relationships; planning for financial success; and the ‘sandwich generation.’
  •      Cultivating Your Life Passions — cultivating your passions, values and creativity; health at all ages; healing from loss; and work/life balance.
  •      Career & Personal Branding —insights and advice from a panel of professionals from Boston Scientific; insights and advice from a panel of women business owners; career interest assessment; presentation on using Linkedin for professional success.

Also included among the event’s scheduled activities are a buffet breakfast, ‘ladies tea’ themed luncheon and shopping boutique, according to a news release.

The keynote speaker for this year’s Women’s Conference is Ms. Lisa Welker-Finney, Vice President of Human Resources at Boston Scientific Neuromodulation, BSN, according to a news release.

A leader in medical device manufacturing and sales, during her time with BSN, Welker-Finney has acted as overseer of the company’s neuromodulation division in some of the fastest growing markets in the United States, Canada and Latin America, according to a news release.

Prior to her role with BSN, Welker-Finney participated in talent management and organization development for WellPoint/Anthem Blue Cross, serving in a variety of roles related to site leadership, global leadership and development, according to a news release. She was also responsible for talent planning and succession for the top 900 employees within WellPoint/Anthem Blue Cross.

Welker-Finney holds both a B.S. and an M.S. from California State University, Northridge and is a part-time faculty member at that institution, according to a news release. Already a well-known speaker, she is currently writing a new book on the topic of leadership.

“We are very excited to have Ms. Welker-Finney as our keynote speaker,” said Fiero. “She is a very motivational speaker and Boston Scientific has been an amazing sponsor of the Women’s Conference for several years.”

General admission to the 2015 College of the Canyons Women’s Conference is $30 through Sunday, Mar. 15, according to a news release. After that date tickets will be $35. Admission for all students is $20, identification is required.

Admission includes access to all events and activities, as well as a ticket in this year’s raffle drawing, according to a news release.

Sponsors for the 2015 COC Women’s Conference include Boston Scientific Neuromodulation, Mellady Direct Marketing, Wolf Creek Restaurant and Brewing Company, KHTS AM 1220, and College of the Canyons, according to a news release.
