Lance Holger Anderson, 61, of Santa Clarita, is due back in court Tuesday, said Deputy District Attorney Julie Kramer with the Victim Impact Program of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The VIP unit handles the prosecution of cases that involve elder abuse, child abuse, hate crimes, sex crimes, stalking and family violence, Kramer said.
Kramer is also in charge of the prosecution of the case against Matthew Warner, the Newhall man accused of killing his 18-day-old baby.
Both cases are expected to have hearings in a San Fernando court Tuesday.
Anderson’s wife, 68-year-old Bertha Maxine Anderson, was found shot in the head where the two reportedly lived together at the 26800 block of Claudette Street.
Officers arrested Anderson at the convalescent home where his sister, Lisa Nave was staying, after his sister was found shot to death in her room.
When relatives learned about the murder, they requested a welfare check at the home the Andersons shared on Claudette.
Bertha Anderson is believed to have been killed Dec. 10, the night before Nave was found dead.
Neighbors reported hearing “two loud booms” that night.
Anderson was arrested near the scene by Los Angeles Police Department. The alleged murder weapon, a Derringer pistol, is believed to have been found outside the convalescent home where Anderson reportedly was waiting for officers to arrest him.
Prosecutors revealed in court that Anderson was carrying more than $1,000 in cash with him when he was arrested. Officials have not said why he had the money.
A criminal complaint against Matthew Brendan Warner, 30, of Newhall, charges him with the murder of Ellorah Warner, his 19-day-old baby girl, as well as assault on a child causing death, torture, oral copulation or sexual penetration of a child under 10, aggravated sexual assault.
Ellorah was discovered inside the cab of Warner’s truck in the 23600 block of Newhall Avenue around 7 a.m. Saturday and pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lt. Holly Francisco, the homicide detective leading the investigation.
