Two separate pursuits were initiated Tuesday, after a driver of a motorhome was suspected to be involved in a domestic disturbance incident in Valencia.

“Detectives attempted to detain a parolee at large who was believed to be armed and wanted for evading, child abduction, child endangerment and weapons violations,” said Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez.

The suspect, a 46-year-old Caucasian male, is also a registered sex offender out of the state of Oregon who was on parole for a sex offense, said Sheriff’s officials.

The suspect’s two children, a 3-year-old and an 11-month-old, were inside the motorhome, according to the LASD.

The first chase began around 10 a.m. Tuesday when Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies attempted a traffic stop on a “1989 Dolphin RV,” said Sgt. Brian Shreves.

“Deputies attempted to pull the RV over, then the driver took off,” said Shreves. “We called off the pursuit shortly after, due to public safety.”

The first pursuit ended on Newhall Ranch Road and Rye Canyon Road in Valencia, he said.

The motorhome was later found in the Hollywood area around 2:30 p.m. by the Los Angeles Police Department.

LAPD officers attempted to pull the RV over, and the driver led law enforcement on the second chase from Hollywood to Bakersfield — spanning two counties.

The motorhome then drove northbound on the 170 Freeway past the San Fernando Valley up the Interstate 5, according to the LAPD.

The RV driver attempted to flee all the way through the Newhall Pass and is passing through the entire Santa Clarita Valley up to the Grapevine, according to Officer Eric Priessman.

CHP Newhall officers “handed off” the pursuit to the Fort Tejon Station as the RV made its way through the Grapevine to Bakersfield, said Priessman.

The motorhome then sped through the I-5 Northbound to the I-99 in Bakersfield, according to Sgt. Rudy Alcaraz.

The chase ended on a dirt road in Shafter around 6:15 p.m. north of Bakersfield in Kern County, according to CHP.

The suspect fled on foot into a nearby field, leading to a standoff with law enforcement.

CHP officers said the two children have been recovered safely, but the suspect has not found as of 9 p.m. Tuesday evening.
