New Smartphone Senior Monitoring System Offers Peace Of Mind

Senior monitoring finally gets 21st century technology

By Dr. Thomas Polucki

Our parents have taken care of us our whole lives. Now, as they get older, it’s time we take care of them. And finally there is a better full-time supervision option for the elderly patient – using a smartphone senior monitoring system.

The average assisted living facility costs more than $43,000 a year and a private room at a nursing home costs more than $90,000 according to Genworth Cost of Care Survey.

“But even for families where such costs are not prohibitive, parents are often reluctant to be relocated from their own homes, which are filled with years of happy memories, and placed into an unfamiliar environment, living with strangers.” said Jack Zhang, CEO of Vitall Inc. a fast-growing health-tech company.

An affordable senior monitoring option for some is to stay in the home with the senior. As with other systems for monitoring elderly people, there is an alert button for emergencies. But with Vitall’s “HeyMomDad” system, you get a notification on your smartphone and can instantly see, hear and have a conversation with you’re the senior.

With HeyMomDad, seniors have a choice. The blue button is for instant two-way communication with family and friends and the red button is for a 911 emergency.

HeyMomDad is the world’s first two-way communication and wellness monitoring system for seniors. Now we can see and hear, in real time, that our elderly parents are safe and well, simply by opening an app on our smartphone.

“What we’re offering families with elderly members is a way to stay close; a way to know in a second if your parent or grandparent is doing well,” Zhang said. “One button push and they’re connected to you.”

The HeyMomDad system is easy to install. The only requirement is a reliable connection to the Internet and an Ethernet modem (not included).

As we ourselves get older, we start to appreciate everything our parents did for us, taking us to the doctor when we needed it and always looking out for us. This system is a great way for our parents to keep their independence and give all of us the reassurance that they can easily reach us in case of emergency.
