Las Vegas Shooting: La Cocina To Hold Fundraiser For Santa Clarita Survivors Gloria Aguirre, Andrew Dahring

In the wake of the Las Vegas shooting, La Cocina is holding a fundraiser on Wednesday, Nov. 1 for two Santa Clarita survivors who were wounded that night: Gloria Aguirre and Andrew Dahring.

The event is set to take place from 4-10 p.m. at the La Cocina restaurants located at 28022 Seco Canyon Road, 28076 Bouquet Canyon Road and 19915 Golden Valley Road for dine-in or take-out when patrons mention the fundraiser.

“Please come and enjoy delicious food and drinks at any of the three La Cocina restaurants and a portion of the proceeds will help with ongoing medical expenses for Andy Dahring and Gloria Aguirre,” stated an event flyer.

Aguirre is a Castaic resident who was attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival with her boyfriend, Patrick Hobbs, also of Castaic.

She suffered injuries ranging from a broken bone in her shoulder to fractures in her leg and hip when she fell and was trampled by fleeing concert-goers. The injuries will require at least two surgeries, as well as rehabilitation and physical therapy.

Aguirre also shared her ongoing struggles recovering from the psychological impacts of enduring such a traumatic experience, and suffers from post traumatic stress disorder and nightmares.

Dahring, who formerly worked as a deputy at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, was struck by gunfire in the shoulder during the Las Vegas shooting, and required surgery. He is listed as a 2017 Frosh football coach at Saugus High on the school’s website.
