Woman Killed In Rowher Flat Crash Identified

The sole passenger in a 1996 Jeep Cherokee that tumbled down a 1,500-foot embankment in Rowher Flats has been identified as 25-year-old Jacqueline Devon Cork of Redlands, said coroner’s officials.

“A young man from the Granada Hills area was driving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Traffic-Update-HEADER-1with a female passenger,” said CHP Officer John Lutz. “For whatever reason while climbing the hill, he lost control of the vehicle and it tumbled backwards down the hill.”

The male driver was ejected from the vehicle, sustained major injuries and was flown to the Antelope Valley Hospital, Lutz said. Cork remained in the vehicle as it tumbled down a 1,500-foot embankment.

Cork was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:06 p.m., said Cheryl Sims, supervising fire dispatcher for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, in a previous interview.

The crash occurred around 2 p.m. Jan. 10 in Rowher Flats, an off-roading area in the Angeles National Forest between Bouquet Canyon Road and Sierra Highway.

The incident is still under investigation and CHP officials believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, Lutz said.

Man Found Dead In Santa Clara River Wash Identified

Laszio Szabo, 64, who was identified by coroner’s officials, was found face down in the Santa Clara River wash on Dec. 12 after a heavy rainstorm the night before.

Deputies received the call regarding a man found face down in the wash near the intersection of Langside and Soledad Canyon Road around 10:50 a.m. last week, officials said.

Initially, a helicopter unit was called to the area, where it appeared a rescue mightdead body Canyon Country wash be possible.

County fire officials at the scene canceled medical units because they were able to determine the man was already dead.

Officials with the Coroner’s Office await toxicology reports to determine the cause of death for the man, who is believed to have been homeless at the time of the death.

A toxicology report was ordered to help determine the cause of death because the medical examiner who performed the autopsy wasn’t able to definitively determine if the death was natural or accidental based on the initial investigation.

“It could have been medical issues,” Winter said, “or he could have slipped and fell into the water.”

  2. At least Pike can take comfort in knowing that his brain is not the only one turning into mush from all that booze. After reading the comments his buddies sent, it became clearly obvious they all are headed into a tragic downward spiral. In desperate need of help. How in the hell could these freaks be so casual about the death of this beautiful young woman? Am I missing something here? A total disregard for this poor girl losing her life she barely got live?? While this loser gets love and sympathy for causing her death! What the hell is this world coming to anyway? There is no place for denial in this fatal scene and I pray hard for the Cork family as they stomach the offensive reaction to what I am sure has left them completely devastated.
Jacqueline Devon Cork may your soul rest in peace with Jesus in heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and I am so terribly sorry for your loss. Absolutely heartbreaking. As for Pike, hopefully he gets what is coming to him. Perhaps after spending some quality time in jail, the aloof attitude will turn into sincere remorse.
