Blue Star Ranch is an organization that is formed for the purpose of providing therapy and recovery methods to war veterans who have undergone an incident or several incidents in their life which may lead to Post-traumatic Stress Disorder.

Blue Star Ranch was founded in 2014 by Nancy and John Ze.

John served two tours in Vietnam and knows first hand how difficult the adjustment is when soldiers return home.

Nancy spent 27 years designing equine therapy programs for children and adults with various life challenges.

“Knowing my 27 plus year background with equine therapy, several members of the Habitat for Humanity Project for Veterans in Santa Clarita approached me and asked if I could offer my services for military veterans and their families,” Nancy Zhe said. “It has been my style over the years to design equine therapy programs for children and adults with various challenges so the idea, although a challenge, seemed to be a natural fit.”

The Blue Star Ranch uses therapeutic horseback riding for soldiers with PTSD.

The horses help veterans overcome known barriers to engaging and staying in treatment.

It can be a lively method of treating the soldiers and their families by engaging them in a healthy activity and by not giving the impression of a therapy at all times.

It is meant to rehabilitate the soldiers and their families and get them back into the normal civilian life style as smoothly as possible.

The purpose of the organization is to provide a mechanism which is unique, distinct and effective and heals the pains and wounds of the soldiers who have sacrificed a lot in the wars.

What causes PTSD according to Blue Star Ranch

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) was first brought to the attention of the medical community by war veterans. Hence the name “battle fatigue” and “shell shock syndrome.” However, PTSD can occur in anyone who has experienced a traumatic or series of traumatic events. As with most mental health problems, PTSD is a result of many factors, including the severity of the trauma experienced and even how a person’s chemical makeup processes that trauma.
