A Castaic brush fire was ignited near the 5 Freeway Monday morning after reports of a fully involved big rig, officials said.
UPDATE: 2:05 p.m. — All lanes of the northbound 5 Freeway are now open, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The brush fire in Castaic, dubbed the Trailer Incident, was reported at about 9:30 a.m. Monday near the northbound 5 Freeway north of Templin Highway, according to Sean Rios with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“It was a fully involved semi,” Rios said. “The fire is moving at a slow rate of speed.”
The Castaic brush fire grew to about one acre in medium fuels as of about 10 a.m. Monday, according to Fire officials.
The No. 2, 3 and 4 lanes of the northbound 5 Freeway north of Templin Highway are blocked until about 1 p.m. Monday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
