A Castaic fire Wednesday was sparked by a fully engulfed FedEx truck near the 5 Freeway in Castaic, officials said.
UPDATE 8:20 p.m. — All lanes are now open on the southbound 5 Freeway north of Castaic, according to CHP.
UPDATE 4:45 p.m. — Two lanes are now open on the southbound 5 Freeway north of Castaic, according to CHP.
UPDATE 4:15 p.m. — Forward progress has stopped at less than an acre, according to fire officials.

The brush Fire, dubbed the South Fire, was first reported around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, as a vehicle fire on the southbound 5 Freeway north of Lake Hughes Road in Castaic, said Vanessa Lozano, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“A FedEx truck was on fire and spread to the hillside,” Lozano said.
The fire is currently at a half an acre with no structures threatened, according to officials.
All southbound lanes north of Lake Hughes Road are set to be closed for two hours, said Officer Eric Priessman, with the CHP Newhall Office.
