Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a Canyon Country man on a vehicular manslaughter charge in connection with a Valentine’s Day crash that killed a 20-year-old Valencia man.

Alex Chad Corral, 27, of Canyon Country, is accused of being intoxicated during the crash that killed Dylan Tyler Zimmerman, a 20-year-old Valencia man, according to an official with the District Attorney’s Office.
Corral had a previous DUI on his record, according to court documents, which is cause for a stiffer penalty in the event of a conviction.
After an extensive investigation, Corral was arrested Tuesday at 1 p.m.
Corral was arrested on gross vehicular manslaughter and child endangerment charges, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.

The crash took place on Copperhill Drive approximately 3:55 p.m., involving Zimmerman, who was driving a black Honda Civic, and Corral, who was driving a white Ford Fusion, according to deputies.
Detectives investigated numerous factors in this case including possible driver intoxication, the speed the vehicles were traveling at when this collision occurred, and both driver’s driving history.
There was a small female child in the car, according to Sheriff’s Station reports.
If convicted Corral faces a maximum penalty of 15-to-life in state prison, according to District Attorney’s Office officials.
Corral was booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and is being held on $1,100,000 bail.
